Farm Development

Start on Paper, So the Field Starts Right

A new farm is a twenty-year decision made in the first year. We walk your ground, test the soil, watch the water, then draw a planting plan that fits the slope, the frost pockets and your budget — the same process we used to build our own 120 acres.

How It Works

Three Steps to a Working Farm

Step 1

Walk the Land

We visit, dig pits, test soil and water, and listen to what you want the farm to become.

Step 2

Plan on Paper

You get a drawn layout, variety lists, water design and a phased budget to approve.

Step 3

Plant and Establish

We set out first plantings with your crew and stay through the first growing season.

Benefits

Why Plan Before You Plant

Right Crop, Right Place

Varieties matched to your soil and frost dates, so fewer replants and stronger early growth.

Water Secured Early

Storage and drip lines sized before planting, avoiding the dry-summer scramble most new farms face.

Faster First Harvest

Phased planting puts quick garden crops beside slow orchards, so income starts in year one.

Common Questions

Farm Development FAQ

No. We also re-plan tired or half-planted farms — moving rows, adding windbreaks, or converting worn pasture into productive orchards and gardens.

Market garden beds usually crop in their first season. Fruit trees take three to five years to fill a crate, which is why we phase quick crops alongside slow ones.

We specify varieties and order from trusted nurseries on your behalf, then check every delivery before it goes into the ground.
